Commercial building floors are exposed to a considerable amount of wear and stain.

Floor maintenance tasks include waxing and stripping. These services are maintained to show luster and tidiness. So, it is a time-consuming job.

It’s an acquired skill, and executing it without prior expertise may result in errors. It can also cause irreversible damage to the floor.

Here are five mistakes even the best floor waxing and roofing experts make and how you can avoid them for your commercial building.

Have a look.

Using Inappropriate Chemical

Although some cleaning products can be used to safely clean both VCT and natural stone, the wrong chemicals can ruin the surface of each and every type of flooring. Inappropriate chemical formulas include those that include wax, detergent, ammonia, bleach, or acid. All of these ingredients take a toll on the VCT surface.

Not understanding Different Flooring Types

You must first determine your building’s flooring type. The various flooring types are hardwood, vinyl, laminate, and tile, containing ceramic, natural stone, and porcelain.

VCT is commonly used in commercial buildings owing to its capability to resist high foot traffic and cost-effectiveness. So, if your building has VCT flooring, the floor can be cleaned relatively easier.

Understanding the various kinds of floor types is also essential since the care required for each floor differs.

Giving Insufficient Time to Settle

When making your solution, you must use the right chemical composition of cleaning agent and water. It also allows it to settle on the floor for an adequate amount of time to fully penetrate it without drying.

This is referred to as the time interval for resolving the problem. This varies depending on the type of chemical. First, the floor stain removal process must be completed. After that, the solution needs to be sprayed on the floor for effective cleaning.

Also, make sure you inspect the chemical’s label for instructions on how long to wait for the chemical to settle.

Wrong Ratios of Chemical Dilution

It’s critical to utilize the correct chemical dilution ratio in the water. Using an excessive amount of each compound can take away its cleansing properties. It may even cause irreparable damage to your commercial building’s floor.

It is not feasible to make a solution stronger by adding more ingredients or chemicals than required. It might also make things more difficult, requiring more time to strip the floor.

The inaccurate dilution of water and chemicals can cause corrosive fumes, burns, and dangerous amounts of organic chemical compounds.

Waiting for the Solution to Dry

You will face issues removing the cleansing agent if you let it on the floor for too long. This can also happen if the stripping agent is used too lightly. Moreover, spreading the cleaning agent over a wide floor space will leave bits of dried patches of the agent on the floor, which will look ugly. So, make sure the application of the cleaning agent is uniform and within the measured proportion.

Also, because the cleaning agent will leave patches on the floor after it dries, it would mean your building’s cleaning staff will have to start the cleaning process all over again. So, more time, more money, and more effort. You can avoid all these by leveraging the services of a professional commercial building maintenance company.

Conclusion

It is essential to safeguard your employees and other workers during the floor cleaning process.

We recommend following a strict floor cleaning regime every six months to keep it in top shape. Minor difficulties can degrade over time if you don’t take care of your floor regularly, leading to major problems.

We hope the above floor waxing & stripping tips will help solve your woes.
