5 Fun Travel Crafts You Can Do With Kids

After coming home from a long family trip, your kids will never want to forget the adventures you explored. Whether you walked the streets of Disney Parks or went sightseeing across national monuments, these experiences will stick out in your children’s lives. To preserve the memories of travel tickets or any souvenirs you snagged, try out one of these fun travel crafts you can do right at home with your kids.

A little girl drawing on a flat world map. Using a black marker, she’s drawing boats, airplanes, and cars on the map.

1. Create a Travel Scrapbook

Gather maps, ticket stubs, postcards, and photos from your trip to create a travel scrapbook. Kids can decorate each page with drawings, stickers, or handwritten captions personalized by their excitement and creativity. For example, crafting a Disney scrapbook is a great way to preserve any photos, cast signatures, and other souvenirs you kept from your Disney travels.

2. Design Souvenir Shadow Boxes

A shadow box showcases mementos like seashells, pressed flowers, or small trinkets your little one’s collected. Work with your kids to arrange their souvenirs inside, then label the box with the destination and date of your trip. These shadowboxes can double as beautiful decor for your child’s bedroom or family living space.

3. Make a DIY Travel Map

Help your little travelers track the places they traversed by creating a DIY travel map. Pin a large world map to a board and add pushpins or stickers to mark all the places you’ve visited as a family. For an extra fun travel craft, you can include printed photos or ask your kids to color small drawings of landmarks from each trip around the map.

4. Turn Photos Into Ornaments

Turn vacation photos into keepsake ornaments for the holidays! These ornaments highlight your travels from the year to add to your holiday decorations or make for a great gift for grandma and grandpa.

To capture the journey, print your favorite snapshots and place them inside clear acrylic ornaments. Add small items like sand, glitter, or tiny souvenirs inside for an added touch. This customization is a great way to wrap up the end of the year and boost your little one’s creativity.

5. Make a Travel-Themed Puzzle

Transform your favorite family vacation photo into a custom puzzle! Using DIY puzzle kits or online services, you can create a puzzle that kids can enjoy and relive the memory with every piece they put together. This craft serves as both a keepsake and a fun family activity you can store right in your children’s toybox.

Once you finish one of these projects, display it around your home! A souvenir scrapbook or a photo album on your bookshelf or end table will remind your children of the travels they embarked on. Decorate your home with the adventures you shared as a family, and start building a souvenir collection today!
