If you don’t love swim spas enough already, then this article is for you.
We just can’t stop gushing about swim spas and how they’re the perfect addition to any suburban home. Thankfully, we came across this aesthetically pleasing and incredibly versatile technology before we even decided on installing a backyard pool. Otherwise, we would’ve regretted not having known about it sooner.
But wait, do you already know what a swim spa is? Well, if it’s your first time hearing about it, we’d be happy to walk you through everything you need to know. Like you, we had no idea what the swim spa craze was all about. After learning about it, we get the hype – in fact, we’re in on it too!
Anyway, let’s get down to business.
What’s A Swim Spa, Anyway?
You’ve probably seen a spa pool before and we’re certain that you’ve seen a swimming pool before as well. Now, imagine the two combined and multiply the features 10x and you get a swim spa – a combination of leisure, relaxation, and athleticism (read more).
Swim spas are like upgraded spa pools, it’s deeper, longer, and have more functions. It’s more similar to the size of a backyard pool but comes with features such as temperature control, swim jets, cup holders, LED lights, and other cool functions (depending on the model) that make it way more interesting than your normal spa pool or swimming pool combined. And because it has a temperature regulator, it has one advantage that a normal backyard pool won’t ever have: it can be used all year long.
There are many different sizes of swim spas but most are 10-20 feet long, 5-10 feet wide, and around 3-5 feet deep. It depends on your preferences and what you intend to use a swim spa for. Athletes, for instance, would prefer a longer and deeper model with stronger swim jet controls to help them do more challenging laps and maintain their physique. On the other hand, the average family man who simply wants to enjoy occasional swimming exercises and pool weekends with the family may opt for a smaller and simpler model.
Either way, there are many types of swim spas that you can choose from, and some companies, like Ann Arbor swim spas, even customize the style and features to suit exactly what you want. That’s why you really can’t blame anyone for being overly excited at the mention of swim spas. After all, it’s a great (if not the best) addition to any home!
Here are four reasons why we think swim spas are worth every penny:
4 Reasons Why Swim Spas Deserve All the Hype
They’re Versatile & Compact
As mentioned above, swim spas can serve several purposes. It can be used as an exercise machine by both the average guy and the competitive swimmer. It can be the go-to hangout spot for any family during the weekends. Best of all, it can be used all year long thanks to its temperature control feature.
Swim spas are also very easy to install. The part that takes the longest is deciding what model to pick out. Once your backyard is ready and the installation date is scheduled, your new swim spa can be installed within a day. Compare that to the construction time of a swimming pool and it’s a no-brainer which one’s the winner.
You Can Bring It With You When You Move
Because they are so versatile and compact, you can also bring them with you should you decide to move residences. This makes it a more practical investment given how it is easier to resell or relocate. If you build a traditional pool in your backyard, you’ll have to leave it there when you move out. You literally can’t deconstruct and reconstruct it at your new place. So, don’t you think a swim spa is just more convenient to have?
It’s Cheaper To Install & Also Cheaper To Run
I know what you’re thinking, “something like this is bound to be expensive.” Well, it’s not cheap; I’ll tell you that. But so is building an entire pool in your backyard.
On average, you can get a good-sized, excellent swim spa model for $20,000 to $30,000. On the other hand, you’ll likely need a budget of $30,000 to $40,000 to build a ten-foot pool. So not only is it cheaper, it’s also more practical given how it’s portable and easy to resell. Learn more about average swim spa prices here: https://www.angi.com/articles/swim-spa-cost.htm.
The cost to run it is also cheaper compared to your average pool, especially if you invest in an external heat pump.
It’s Not Boring
Most importantly, swim spas are way more fun than your average pool. Apart from dipping and swimming laps, there is almost nothing else for you to enjoy in a traditional swimming pool. Swim spas have lights, music, and swim jets, and they can make the water hotter or cooler depending on the season. It’s a fun and relaxing must-have for anyone who wants to unwind after work and on weekends. In other words, swim spas are NOT boring at all!
If this list doesn’t convince you, I don’t know what will. Swim spas FTW!
