Anyone who travels a lot has probably come across ciprofloxacin.

For those who intend to travel and have never heard of it, ciprofloxacin is an anti-bacterial medication commonly used to treat travelers’ diarrhea. Besides, treating travelers’ diarrhea, several other ailments can be treated using ciprofloxacin.  Some of them include pneumonia, typhoid fever, skin and joint infections, sexually transmitted diseases, respiratory issues,  problems such as urinary tract infections and issues of the prostate which can require specialist treatment from a private urologist in London. It can also be used to prevent and treat plagues such as anthrax. Ciprofloxacin works on all these bacterial infections because it falls under a powerful category of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones.

How to use Ciprofloxacin

Before you buy this medicine, be sure that you have a bacterial infection. Taking it for a viral infection such as the flu will most likely not work. You will only be exposing yourself to the risk of antibiotic resistance, which is disastrous for your health. That said, Ciprofloxacin is available in both tablet and suspension forms, and extended-release tablets. When taken as a tablet or in suspension form, one needs to take it twice a day. On the other hand, if someone chooses to take it in the form of an extended-release tablet, they need to take it once daily. However, the number of times it’s taken also varies with the disease that one is trying to treat. For instance, when it comes to treating gonorrhea, Ciprofloxacin is administered as a single dose. Even for other ailments, the doctor may vary the dosage depending on the severity of the disease. It is always advisable to avoid dairy products when taking this medication. That’s because they can reduce their effectiveness and defeat the whole point of taking it in the first place. It is also advisable to complete the dosage as per the recommendations of the doctor. Taking it halfway, may lead to a resurgence of the bacteria affecting you, and in such a scenario, Ciprofloxacin may fail to work, and ultimately, you could become resistant to antibiotics.

Precautionary measures when taking Ciprofloxacin

Like most medications, there are precautions you need to take when buying Ciprofloxacin. Firstly, do not take it if you have an allergic reaction to the medication. In such a situation, talk to a doctor first and get their opinion on whether it is prudent to take it. Also, you should never take this medication along with other prescription drugs without the consent of a doctor. If you are taking other meds, be open about it. That’s because Ciprofloxacin is a strong medicine and if mixed with other equally strong medications, such as those for treating diabetes, or heart disease, it could lead to complications.

How to buy Ciprofloxacin

You can buy this drug at any pharmacy on the recommendation of a doctor. You can also buy it online and have it delivered. When buying Ciprofloxacin online, make sure to buy at a reputable store. The last thing you want is to order from a store that could supply you, fake risky medicine.
