Shopping for a toddler or preschooler can be an overwhelming task. But, if you have an organized list, your shopping experience will be much more pleasant.

I love a good list as much as the next woman. Write it down and check it off.
When I found out I was pregnant, believe me the whole house was pretty much covered in lists by the end of the day! Lists of things to do, places to go, people to see and most importantly stuff to buy.
It got rather confusing in fact as I had written so many lists I hardly knew what I had done and what I had yet to do. As the weeks wore on I felt increasingly bogged down with all my jobs, instead of feeling happy and excited about the birth of my baby. Every day was more a case of groaning, look at the clock and worry about how I was going to fit in painting the nursery, shopping for baby clothes, visiting the midwife and meeting my other mom friends, rather than simply being happy about the baby!
Fast forward to toddlers and preschoolers. Toddlers enjoy taking apart, putting back together, putting in, pulling out, building up and adding on. Toys that are “open-ended” is usually a great fit because they can play various types of games with them.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably find that enough is never enough. To help you streamline what you need to buy, I have put together a handy list of essential purchases for your energetic little one.
- bubbles
- water guns
- magnets
- cars
- balls
- wooden building pieces
- interactive toys
- books
- animal-themed items
- bath toys
Before you purchase the items, shop around online to see if you can get some good deals. You are many shops out there that you probably haven’t heard of that sell everything you need for reasonable prices.
In the event you’re shopping for your grandson, nephew, or other family members, check out these gifts for boys age 3.
It may be the case that you can purchase some items second hand, although you must ensure that they still comply with all necessary safety standards and that they are in a good condition. You may be lucky enough to have some friends who are happy to lend you stuff, in which case take advantage of any generous offer which comes your way!
There are of course many more items you may wish to purchase which will make looking after your little one that much easier. These are just the bare essentials that you simply can’t do without!
Enjoy your shopping and just think – when your shopping is done, you’ll be able to focus on enjoying this stage.
