by RAKI WRIGHT

Flashcards are the best tools for study since they promote studying by recalling actively. Our brains tend to learn through this process effectively. Here are the best practices with flashcards from Domyhomework123.com professionals:

  • Create your own Flash Cards

Many apps help you download pre-made decks and begin reading. They can be useful, but to get the most out of them, you will do your brain justice when you create your flashcards. The cards will help you in:

  • Getting new information
  • Playing with it in your head
  • Coming up with something new, like your words and methods of explaining the data.
  • Have a mixture of Pictures and Words

When you add pictures or images to the cards, they can get memorable. There is a high chance of people remembering images more than they do on words. It does not mean that you replace the wordings on your card with pictures. The brain is an adaptive organ, and a mixture of both will register a better understanding than images alone.

  • Apply the use of Mnemonic Devices

They will help you in creating mental connections. They are things that assist you to come up with an association between information in the head. The best example known to man is probably ROYGBIV, which helps you remember not just the colors of the rainbow, but their arrangement as well. When you make your associations Weider, the more likely you are to remember them. It is because of this reason that the human brain is capable of recalling things out of the ordinary.

  • Jot one question per card

When you include several facts in one card, you are at a high risk of getting illusions of incompetence. It is when you think you know something that you do not know. It happens when the brain mistakes recognition for recalling. The mind can easily recognize the things we have seen in the past. Recalling is the form of getting back a memory without a cue. When you have a flashcard with several facts in it, you will probably make this mistake.

  • Divide Complex Concepts into many questions

Several concepts get more complex, which makes it hard to fit into one question. Break down such into several queries. It will help you study well when you use flashcards.

  • Speak out loud when studying

To keep the illusions of competence parked, you need to practice answering your questions loudly when studying. You can get a friend to help you revise as you loudly call the answers out. In case you cannot get a study partner, practice saying your answers loudly before flipping on to the next page.

  • Review your flashcards from both directions

If you study them from both sides, you will build neural pathways that are firm and can get traced in any direction. If you don’t do this, you will recall only one side of your card.

  • Don’t treat the cards as your only hope.

There are many methods of retrieving information, do not rely on flashcards only. There are many methods you can use depending on the material you are studying. You may opt to use:

  • Quizzes
  • Explanations in your words
  • Do a test written by somebody else
