The three Aran Islands located on Ireland’s west coast are one of Ireland’s most kept treasures. Just to mention, the Islands include the Inis Meain, Inis Mor and Inis Oirr.

Most residents of the Island are fluent in the English language, but the Irish language is still common. If you are out on your weekend trip to Aran, don’t miss out on the following intriguing weekend-perfect activities in the Island.

  • Surfing

The Aran Islands are just at the edge of Galway Bay. The waves and swells generated make this point a perfect surfing area for hobbyist and career surfers. Currently, most surfers from different countries congregate to take advantage of the huge waves, which has increased the popularity of the sport in Ireland.

  • Wedding and Vow renewals

The Aran Islands have evolved from a honeymoon destination to a wedding destination. Initially, people came to the region for their honeymoons due to the vast scenic beauty of the Island. However, the number of weddings being conducted on the Island is on the rise. The Inis Mor, to be specific, has become a wedding hub, with a lot of interesting wedding packages. You can contact galwaytourcompany.com if you are planning to make your wedding vows on this amazing Island.

  • Walking

Outdoor enthusiast of all levels who like walking will enjoy a lot from the Island’s perfect landscape. The region is relatively flat with some modest high points that provide a good view of the low-lying areas. If you are in for this interesting weekend escapade, consider getting some tough shoes as the cliff facing areas has rocky and gravel terrains that can injure your foot.

There are several highlighted walk areas in the highland. For instance, there is the 30-minutes Kilronan to Blackfort walk. A track that most people like walking on is the Dun Aonghasa to Wormhole walk that is on the cliff edge, thus presenting dramatic views of the Island.

  • Fishing

Weekends are good for relaxing activities, and fishing can be one of them. Fishing in the Aran Islands is a common daily activity and daily way of life for the residents. So to say, the docked fishing boats, once you arrive at the Kilronan Pier, are a good welcoming sight. If you are an avid fisherman, you can take some time into the waters for an evening meal.

  • Weekend festivals

Aran Islands are isolated and thus harbor a lot of Ireland’s preserved culture. This region has marked itself as the best place for the boutique festival destination that amounts to lots of laughter and fun. Weekends in the Aran Islands are full of life, especially at the bars with electric fanfare. That aside, you can’t miss groups of tourists attracted by the warm summer air conducting their festivals in the Island.

  • Go cycling

For quite some time, cycling was the main method of transport tourist used to get visting the Island. The 30 minutes bicycle ride from Pier to Dun Aonghasa is among the common cycling routes you can take on a weekend. There are also other interesting routes with perfectly made gentle roads and flat circuits to stretch your legs.
