With the popularity of streaming services that are accessible via almost any device, you may be thinking twice about investing in a smart TV. While it’s true that you can easily watch a show or movie on your laptop or phone, having a smart TV with all the nifty tech can bring your viewing experience to a whole new level.

Choosing the smart TV that’s right for your budget requires properly weighing the benefits and drawbacks. If you’re planning to buy a smart TV soon, here’s a quick guide on what features you should consider before shelling out your hard-earned money.

What Are The Uses of A Smart TV?

The key benefit of having a smart TV is its built-in access to a vast library of movies and TV shows on the internet. A smart TV also has common features such as Bluetooth and ethernet connectivity, High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) ports, and other input jacks that can support gaming consoles, DVD players, or smartphones.

Having a more consolidated way of accessing entertainment is beneficial if watching TV is your way of bonding with family or entertaining guests. But beyond this shared entertainment experience, having an

How Much Should You Budget for A Smart TV?

Before spending on a smart TV, you should consider your current needs and priorities. Investing in an expensive smart TV has long-term benefits, such as access to more apps, higher resolutions, and better all-in-one TV is a great way to keep yourself entertained for hours without needing to constantly switch gadgets or squinting at a tiny screen.specs. But if you’re looking for something more affordable, it’s still possible to find high-quality smart TVs that don’t give up most of the key benefits.

So what’s an ideal smart TV price Philippines-based customers should be looking at? It depends on the features and specs you want to have, which we will discuss next.

What Specs Should You Look for?

When buying a smart TV, you should consider what the brand can offer in terms of the following:

Size

Before choosing a product, check the dimensions of the room in which you will be placing the TV. Make sure that you can view the screen from a healthy distance. The TV should not be too small or overpowering. The most common sizes for smart TVs are 42-75 inches, measured diagonally.

Screen Resolution and Display

Compared to the LCD and LED screens of standard televisions, OLED screens offer higher contrast and more vibrant colors. If you’re willing to spend on image quality, consider smart TVs with an OLED screen.

For screen resolution, it’s generally recommended to stick with Ultra HD or a 4K resolution. Full HD, or 1920×1080, is the bare minimum for most smart TVs today. Higher-end TVs can offer an 8K resolution, but a 4K setting should serve as a reasonable middle-ground.

Refresh Rate

The refresh rate measures how many times the screen refreshes based on frames per second. The higher your TV’s refresh rate, the smoother your viewing experience will be. TVs with low refresh rates are prone to blurriness, which is more noticeable when watching action scenes or sporting events. The standard rate for today’s TVs is 60-120 frames per second.

HDR Compatibility

High Dynamic Range (HDR) pertains to the ability to display a broad range of colors and contrast ratios. HDR compatibility is the key to high-quality images because it reflects the ability to display vibrant, bright colors as well as rich, dark tones. In short, HDR allows the display to produce images that are closer to reality. Most good-quality TVs can handle at least HDR10.

Integrations and Connection Ports

Lastly, your smart TV must integrate well with other smart devices and have a good selection of pre-installed apps. You may also go for smart TVs with app stores that allow you to download more apps should you find the pre-loaded selection too limiting. Having a smart TV that can utilize voice commands can also be useful, although it’s not a vital feature.

Ports for HDMI and USB connectivity are also key elements to look for in smart TVs. Standard TVs usually have HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 ports, which are supported by most devices, including laptops, speakers, and consoles. USB ports are also crucial because they offer versatile connectivity with hard drives, flash drives, laptops, and chargers.

What Else Should You Consider?

Aside from specs, price, and use, there are other things to consider before you decide to buy a smart TV. One of these is your internet connection’s speed. If you want to stream Ultra HD content and make the most of your TV, you need fast broadband connectivity of at least 25 Mbps. You may also want your TV to have the option of switching to limited, non-smart settings.

Smart TVs are not an absolute necessity, but they can be a good investment for those who want a future-proof way of getting entertainment. As these next-generation TVs become increasingly common and affordable, it pays to know what to look for before making a splurge.
