Questions related to a Paragard Lawsuit

Any product you use should be completely safe. Or it should cause minimum side effects. If that’s not the case, you could end up being injured.

One of the products that have generated attention all over the world is Paragard. It is a “t-shaped birth control and contraception device” that works without hormones. The copper device is placed inside the uterus with a minor procedure. However, it has been known to cause several complications, some of which can be severe.

If you have used it and experienced any issues, you could file a Paragard Lawsuit. Several women around the world have filed lawsuits against the company for negligence and misinformation. It is vital to do so as the physical damage is irreversible in some cases.

What are some of the things you should know about the lawsuit?

Are you eligible to file a lawsuit?

If you have suffered injuries after a medical professional implanted the device, you can file a lawsuit. The device is known to cause complications during the removal process.

However, there are times when its arms break inside the uterus. That could lead to perforation, heavy bleeding, infection, and scarring. You can still file a compensation claim in those cases with the help of your lawyer.

What should you do after an injury?

If the Paragard breaks inside your uterus, your priority should be to seek medical care immediately. An expelled or dislodged IUD will cause extreme discomfort or sharp pain. If there is perforation, you might experience an unplanned pregnancy, bloating, pelvic pain, nausea, and vomiting.

In such cases, it is essential to get a proper diagnosis of your injuries. Those will come in handy during your Paragard lawsuit. Discuss with the doctor if removal is required.

Before the surgery, they need to provide all the necessary information, including the risks involved. The point is to allow you to make the final decision yourself. If they fail to do this and you are injured, you can file a lawsuit against the doctor and the hospital too. You can also bring a case against both the manufacturer and the doctor if they withhold vital information about the device while inserting or removing it.

How will your lawyer help you?

A lawyer will help you with every step of your Paragard lawsuit. They will begin by proving liability for your injuries. Your attorney will also collect the required evidence, including medical records, treatment journals, diagnosis, and other documents. They will also note what type of damage you have experienced and its severity.

Finally, they will present your case before the court and ensure that you receive proper compensation.

Tips on choosing a proper lawyer

It would help if you began by checking whether the firm’s lawyer has adequate knowledge of the product. They should know about its design, history, usage, and side effects. It would also be helpful if they knew something about the manufacturer.

Also, as it is a product liability case, hiring an attorney who has successfully handled other Paragard lawsuits before would be advantageous. Try visiting their website and checking if they have any information related to your lawsuit.

Before hiring a lawyer, book a free consultation if they have one. Ask them how they plan on proceeding with your case and how long you can expect to receive a settlement.
