Many YouTubers have learned the art of creating attractive content, but they fail to use their channel to make money. The most successful YouTubers who sell merch are not necessarily the ones with the most subscribers but the ones who know how to apply different strategies to create income from the channel.

Merch selling allows you to monetize your brand by getting direct support from your online community. The competition is stiff, and it requires you to give your merch an added value that will make it stand out above the competition. It is time to monetize your YouTube merch with these simple selling tips.

Avoid too much initial investment

It takes time to build an online YouTuber merch business, pool enough subscribers, build a community and market your merch widely. It might pay off better if you start slowly and build a strong merch base that can support your business well as it expands.

By initially investing all your money in YouTube merch, it doesn’t give you a guarantee that growth will happen at the same pace. Growth will be mostly slow, and your investment will be like dead stock in YouTube. Buying behavior might suddenly change and you will have nowhere to sell your merch.

Create your custom merch

YouTube grows its channel by developing new features that make the user experience better. They provide customizable features such as design templates, analytics and a strong customer support team to help you whenever you need help.

Use the tools provided by YouTube combined with other online analytical tools to create the most attractive merch shop online. You must first decide the kind of merch you want to sell that your community will identify you with.

Promote your merch

Merch promotions help bring large volumes of sales in a short time. Unless you tell them, your communities will not know you are promoting your merch. Go to your YouTube community tab and boldly announce a sales offer. Link new merch to your social media accounts and let your followers know you have promotions and trending schemes going on.

Put some powerful content on your blog and announce the promotion. People love promotions because they save money. They will rush into your merch shop to make orders. Once the promotion time is through, remove the announcements.

Get the timing right

There is no rule as to when you can start selling merch on YouTube but you must judge if it is the right time to launch merch. There are several things you need to consider before you start. Find out if your audience is ready. Your audience is important when selling merch. They are the ones who will help you spread the word about your merch.

But how will you tell that the merch is ready? Check the number of comments you receive for each published post. Gauge if your community has purchasing power or promoting power. If it is a vibrant community, they will buy and support your merch. Find out if your brand is strong enough to succeed in merch selling. These indicators will help you decide if your brand is ready to sell merch.

Have clear goals

Your merch selling goals will determine how fast you can grow and how far you can stretch yourself to reach out to your market. If you are selling merch to help you make an extra $200 per month, you don’t require much effort but if you are targeting $1000 plus per month, a lot of effort is required. If your goal is to spread brand awareness, there are unique strategies that you can use to help you achieve your goal but let them be clear from the start.

Build your merch marketing strategy

If you sell smartphones on YouTube, a million other merch sellers are selling the same. That means your chance to sell one phone is one in a million. If you want to increase that ratio to a thousand in a million, what will make the difference in your marketing strategy is marketing and jumping the long queue of other sellers with innovative plans.

SEO works on YouTube the same way it works on such engines. The keywords you include in your videos will help your channel rank higher and give you more sales. Continue to build a larger community by actively increasing your YouTube subscriber base. Build authority in your channel to enhance trust from your community. If you are not blogging, it is time to start and actively post on your social media channels.
