Making The Most Of Your Modest (Small!) Corporate Housing Living Space

The UAE (United Arab Emirates) has emerged as one of the world’s busiest business hubs with thousands of foreign nationals working within its borders. If your company is sending you to work in the UAE on an extended basis of a year or more you are likely to be housed in a comfortable, but not particularly inspiring, small corporate apartment.

These might have a minimum of furnishings in place, or none at all, but depending on your company’s policies and resources, you will very likely be allowed a chance to do some decorating yourself on their bill.

It can be difficult to decide how to decorate your corporate housing and what kind of furnishings and supplies are necessary. Once you have arrived you can make a plan, then you can buy room accessories online from Cities Store Dubai that will make your temporary home feel like a real home.

Small? Go Tall! If you are reading this it’s pretty unlikely you are the CEO who is staying in the ritziest hotel penthouse available and are looking at a very modest-sized (a nice way to say “small”) space. Your first challenge is to make the place look bigger than it really is.

One trick to create the illusion of greater overall size is to put in tall bookshelves that extend from the floor to the ceiling, which will lend function as well. You can also hang the window curtains from a height near the ceiling even if the actual window doesn’t reach that high, it will give the room a surprising sense of spaciousness!

Do Some Reflecting! Carefully placed mirrors can lend any space an amazing feeling of size. You will have the illusion of windows on both sides of a room, and neighboring rooms will lend their reflected light to the entire space! You could even set mirrors up to create an infinity effect, but then you might be in danger of creating a funhouse instead of a comfortable living space.

Open Up! If your suite of rooms feels small and constricted, try having the doors between them removed to create a larger feeling of connected area. It would probably be best to leave the bathroom door in place unless you are sure to never have company!

Be A Minimalist! Sometimes less is more, choose just a few very strategic furnishings for small, intimate gatherings, and avoid all unnecessary clutter!
