How To Feel Your Absolute Best (Without Pressuring Yourself)

by RAKI WRIGHT

We all know what we want from life: we want to feel our best. But making it happen in this world of ours is more challenging than many of us imagine. We want to feel amazing every day, but making it a reality is hard work!

To make matters worse, we put ourselves under pressure to feel great. We think that if we don’t, we’re doing something wrong.

That’s where this post can help. It explains how to feel your absolute best, no matter what.

Here’s everything you need to know:

Start With Gratitude

The first place to start is with gratitude. You want to be happy with what you’ve got if you want to succeed.

When our hearts are so full of passions and desires, it’s hard to have a thankful attitude. But with daily practice, you can make it happen. Even if the world seems to be working against you, being grateful for the things you have can make a tremendous difference in how you feel daily.

If you’re struggling with gratitude, be strict with yourself and write down the things you feel grateful for. Once you start thinking about the best aspects of your life, your desires start to subside.

Take Baby Steps

The next step is to take some baby steps toward where you want to go. Making small changes can have a profoundly positive effect on your psychology and show you’re making progress.

Start with a couple of little habit changes and see how they help you. For example, you could go from eating bucket loads of sugar to adding dates to your meals instead. Or you could walk to work instead of taking the car.

Once you have a few baby steps under your belt, you can start taking on bigger challenges. Proving to yourself you can do it can motivate you to take additional steps to move toward your goals.

What you’ll notice is that some of the smaller things (like cutting out sugar or alcohol) can actually have a profoundly positive effect on your life over the longer term. After a few weeks or months, you feel like a new person, even though the changes you made were small.

Change Your Food

One of the best tips to keep joints healthy is to simply change your food. It’s also an excellent way to reduce your risk of disease in general. Natural foods have a protective effect that reduces the risk of diseases significantly and allows your body to function the way nature intended.

Therefore, look for ways to move your diet over to whole foods where possible. Reduce your intake of things like refined grains, baked goods, candies, and processed meats. These are much more likely to cause long-term metabolic dysfunction that can lead to poorer health outcomes.

Reduce Self-Criticism

Another pro tip to feeling your best (without pressuring yourself) is to reduce self-criticism. The more we tell ourselves negative stories, the more likely we are to believe them.

Resolve to be kinder to yourself. Even if you made a mistake, only punish yourself as much as you deserve. Don’t carry a burden with you for the rest of your life.

If you can acknowledge that you’re a flawed person who makes mistakes and struggles through life, that can be a way to show yourself some kindness. Nobody makes it through the decades unscathed by mistakes, betrayals, and missed opportunities. Recognizing that you’re no different from anyone else can help enormously.

Spend Time Focusing On Something With Purpose

Living your best life and feeling great also requires spending time focusing on something that gives you a sense of purpose. You want to orientate yourself toward meaning wherever you can find it.

Furthermore, it doesn’t always matter what the purpose is (as long as it is something that fits your personality). Having a focus and serving others adds meaning to your life that selfish pursuits never could.

If you can’t think of anything straight away, don’t worry. Usually, it takes focusing on something outside of yourself for a while to determine whether it’s the right path for you.

It doesn’t need to be anything grandiose. Something as simple as looking after your kids or volunteering locally can be all that it takes.

Listen To Your Body

Another pro tip is to listen to your body and understand what it’s trying to tell you. Usually, it has exceptional intuition and can direct you to the next step.

For example, if you feel rough because of your diet, your body will usually tell you how you need to adjust it. It could let you know you need to eat more beans or tell you to reduce your intake of sugary drinks. Whatever it is, there will usually be a sign.

Some people will need to make more significant changes to their diet. Many times, making these can transform your health and vitality, turning the situation around.

Get Out Of The House

Feeling your best also requires getting out of the house and enjoying the world around you. Spending time in nature can be an excellent way to recharge, refresh, and refocus your life.

By contrast, it’s unlikely you’ll be at your best if you spend all day in an air-conditioned office. While it might feel okay at the time, it denies you access to nature and the primal connection it offers.

If you can, do something out of the home (including exercise) for 45 minutes to an hour every day. Use the experience to perform a moving meditation, centering your mind on what matters the most.

Avoid Allowing Work To Take Over Your Life

Lastly, it’s a good policy to forbid work from taking over your life. It should be a way to earn money, but not the sole purpose of your existence.

If you find it getting on top of you, take a break. Having some time out can help you refresh and focus more on the things that matter to you in life. It’s not all about the grind.
