Best Mompreneurs Ideas For California Business

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure.

by RAKI WRIGHT

More and more mothers are inspired to take on the task of raising children while running a full-time business. From these ambitious women, we have seen the rise of the term “mompreneur”. However, if you’re an aspiring mompreneur, it can become difficult to think of a business to start. Thankfully, we’ve researched the best ideas that you can use right now to start a business.

Insurance business

Building a company that provides small business insurance in California is no simple task. However, with the right dedication and time, it can become a highly profitable business. The first order of business is creating a business plan. This helps you stay on schedule, set goals, and avoid potential roadblocks.

Furthermore, make sure that you structure the company correctly. There are several business structures that you can do:

  • S-corporation
  • Corporation
  • Sole proprietorship
  • Partnership
  • Limited liability company

Each has its advantages and negatives. If you’re a mom who’s going to build the business, then a sole proprietorship is the best because of the simple structure. Also, get your business licenses and permits. You want to stay on the right side of the law. The easiest way to do this is by going through a licensing agent.

Furthermore, know what types of insurance you want to give out. For example, would you insure people, assets, or businesses? Also, before you insure people’s needs, it’s essential that you get insurance yourself. General liability insurance protects you from customer property damage, and professional liability insurance protects against lawsuits related to accusations of errors and oversights.

Online courses

Do you have knowledge of a particular skill set? Try creating a course because it’s one of the most affordable businesses to start. It will take 1-4 weeks to develop a professional course that you can market to others. Start with a free episode so that potential customers can see what you offer. If they like what’s being offered, they’re more than happy to spend money.

However, marketing your course can be a daunting task. Luckily for you, there are various websites like Udemy that will host your content for a small fee.

Digital marketing manager

Managing online marketing for local companies is a great idea for mompreneurs. This is because the schedule is flexible and you don’t need a degree. Learning how to manage the digital side for businesses is simple since there are many resources that you can use. YouTube or online courses are a great way to start.

Moreover, you can contact small local businesses and offer your services. This is an excellent method to build a successful portfolio. Afterward, you can contact larger companies once you gain a good reputation.

Freelance services

Most of your time is spent at home as a mompreneur, so why not take the office home? There are several popular freelance websites that let you offer your services. You can create a profile and send applications to potential clients. However, if you want to make a business out of freelancing, you can open an agency.

Opening an agency means that you can hire other people to work for you. The agency will work as a bridge between clients and freelancers. The business model is easy to understand. You’ll take a percentage as profits when the client pays, and the rest will be distributed to freelancers.

Dropshipping

With today’s technology, you can create and sell products within a day. Dropshipping is a simple model – buy products cheap and sell them at a profit. The best way to start is by using services like Shopify because they have the infrastructure setup. There you can choose a website template and install various plugins to help sell products.

A great aspect of using a dropshipping service is that you can directly connect products from a site like AliExpress to your website. Therefore, you won’t need to worry about warehousing products and shipping. When a customer purchases a product from your site, their information will automatically be sent to AliExpress and forwarded to the buyer.

To promote your products, you’ll be using Facebook and Instagram adverts. You’ll want to test out at least 5 ads and see how users react. At first, it can seem expensive, but you’ll be looking at a 200-300% ROI if you do everything correctly.

Final thoughts

To conclude, we’ve gone over the 5 best businesses a mompreneur can begin right now. All moms can try the business models because they don’t require huge startup costs. However, creating a successful company is a difficult process, so make sure you’re up for the challenge.
