There is a lot to think about when considering funeral arrangements, hopefully, you have people to help you, ideally, the person whose funeral it will be is still alive and well and, was able to have an input to content.

Families and friends often say that they would find it extremely difficult if not impossible to tackle the organization by themselves or, be able to make the service as personal as possible. You may still have plenty of time on your hands, however, it’s really important to be involved with the arrangements of your own funeral, make it something for the family to be involved in too, it will help to make a more personal send-off.

Consider everybody’s feelings

Everybody’s feelings will be different throughout the different stages of planning and, ultimately, the funeral process itself, people tend to go through a cycle something like this;

  • Relieved – If your loved one was suffering for whatever reason that it is perfectly normal to feel relieved, especially if you’ve used the services of funeral parlours serving Melbourne, the last thing you want to be worrying about is the finer details.
  • Shock – Deaths can happen at any time so, if the death is a surprise, then, shock is likely to be the first feeling.
  • Sad – Naturally, no matter how well you are prepared you will feel sad at some point and likely require comforting
  • Angry – This is quite a natural feeling for many but, so very sad. Maybe they are angry at the deceased, other family members or, at themselves. Definitely, something to watch out for and get help if needed.
  • Depressed – One of the biggest frames of mind that people fall into is depression, it is quite natural, and as long as you possess the ability to recognize when you are depressed then you can at least weather the storm. Be sure to watch out for other family members, some aren’t able to realize or be self-aware of how they feel.
  • Guilty – This is an awful feeling and for some people, unless they get some outside help, it can cause them problems down the road. This is not a feeling that you want to be sat with.
  • Fearful – Fear is probably the biggest driver in the world and as such when someone passes, of course, there will be fear of, what will happen in the future? Hopefully, you have preplanned and as such there should be minimal fear.

A Bond That Could Be Kept for Generations to Come

When you look for a suitable funeral service provider make sure you are all comfortable with each other, they are, after all, going to be a part of the service and, it’s their job to help you get it just right. Someone at the funeral parlors may have even been working there some years and, perhaps even knows your loved one.

Funeral parlors do tend to be family fun affairs, kept in the family for many a year and been perfected to the point that they can look effortless. The process of planning and undergoing the funeral process is a craft in itself and, one to be appreciated.
