A family of four can survive on a $60 weekly grocery budget (some families do it for even less).

Here’s how we spent our $60 grocery budget for the week of 7/1-7/7:

Walmart : $61.36 (replenishables and supplies for a family cookout)

Food Lion: $13.31

[sorry no pics, the guys put the groceries away too quickly]

Kroger : $27.17 (10 lbs chicken, hamburger buns, bread, milk, ice cream, markdown cupcakes, tortilla chips, flour, shredded mozzarella cheese, can biscuits)

Food Lion – July 6: markdown lunchmeat $2.30

Food Lion: $2.30 (2 lbs lunch meat)

[sorry no pics, the guys put the groceries away too quickly]

Food Lion: $2.78 (2 boxes cereal)

Food Lion - July 7: $8.43

Food Lion: $8.43 (all markdowns – brown sugar, NY strip steak, chicken patties, beef chuckwagon patties)

Results:

Spent $115.35 ($55.35 over budget) [spent $115 for $169 worth of groceries (31% savings)]  My hope is that over 2 weeks, it will balance out and I won’t have to spend any more than the $4.65 I have left for 2 weeks.

Thanks for the encouragement. Didn’t use any coupons. Just got some great markdowns along with low prices at Walmart. I’m planning to step my game up going forward. Just stopped by your site to link up.
