5 Tips for Boosting your Child’s Immune System

Colds and flu are unavoidable for children, but there are some proactive steps you can take to limit their sick days. From organic kids cough syrup and immunity support syrups, many important things can boost the immunity of your child.

What can you do to safeguard your child against the ever-increasing number of germs and viruses that they come into contact with? Below we have discussed a few important steps that you must take to boost the immunity of your kids.

  1. Serve more fruits and vegetables.

Carotenoids, which are immune-boosting antioxidants, are found in carrots, green beans, oranges, and strawberries.  Phytonutrients may boost the synthesis of infection-fighting white blood cells and interferon, a virus-blocking antibody that covers cell surfaces. In adulthood, studies show that a phytonutrient-rich diet helps protect against chronic diseases including cancer and heart disease. Make an effort to get your youngster to consume five servings of fruits and vegetables each day.

  1. Boost sleep time

Sleep deprivation makes you more prone to sickness by lowering natural killer cells, immune-system weapons that attack germs, and cancer cells. The same is true for children. Children in daycare are especially vulnerable to sleep deprivation due to the high level of activity, which makes it difficult for them to sleep.

So, how much sleep do children require? Each day, an infant may need up to 16 hours of crib time, toddlers 11 to 14 hours, and preschoolers 10 to 13 hours.

  1. Don’t skip immunizations

When it comes to child vaccinations, follow your pediatrician’s instructions. Immunizations for measles, mumps, chickenpox, rotavirus and other illnesses begin in childhood and continue through maturity. Get your youngster a flu shot every year.  This is especially crucial for children who suffer from asthma or other chronic illnesses. If your family will be traveling internationally, it’s also a good idea to talk to your child’s doctor about any vaccines that may be required.

  1. Exercise as a family

Exercise boosts the number of natural killer cells in adults, and regular exercise can help youngsters in the same way. Be an excellent role model for your children to develop a lifelong fitness habit. Exercise with them rather than just urging them to go outdoors and play. Bike riding, hiking, inline skating, basketball, and tennis are all fun family activities.

  1. Avoid antibiotics unless necessary

Antibiotics as the first line of defense, despite their efficiency, may not always be the best option. Antibiotics frequently wipe out both beneficial and bad microorganisms, affecting the body’s immune system. Follow your pediatrician’s recommendations and don’t force them to prescribe antibiotics for every disease.

Colds, coughs, bruises, and cuts are unavoidable aspects of growing up. Providing our children with nutritious foods, healthy behaviors, and a safe environment goes a long way toward ensuring that these illnesses are short and rare. Kiss the blues away with love and care, cuddles, and laughs, and make childhood the best experience for your lovely kids.
