5 Common Mistakes Men Make While Proposing

by RAKI WRIGHT

You have made the excellent decision of proposing to your partner. You must be thrilled to plan the whole proposal and wondering how it will take place.

However, you must remember that many things can go wrong while proposing. Your photographer may cancel at the last minute. Or, you may not be able to find the right ring in time as you wasted your time going store to store instead of buying the engagement rings online.

Don’t worry; you can avoid all that. To help you do that, check out these five common mistakes many men make regarding marriage proposals and try to avoid them.

  • Not getting the right engagement ring

The ring is one of the most significant parts of your proposal. You simply cannot afford to get it wrong.

Men keep procrastinating when it comes to buying the engagement ring. They think they have a lot of time to find the perfect ring. In the end, they end up panicking at the last moment and get a ring in haste.

You can avoid this mess by just selecting and ordering engagement rings online well in advance, so you can move on to the other items on your list. You could even find amazing designs like Claddagh rings that will make your proposal more special. You may shop for Claddagh rings with confidence, as they have a strong and meaningful symbolism. The two hands of these rings stand for friendship, the heart stands for love and the crown stands for loyalty.

  • Not adding a personal touch to the proposal

Men want to make the day memorable for their partner. But, they often go overboard and plan something extravagant without any personal touch.

Your wedding proposal celebrates your love and commitment. It is a day that both of you will remember for the rest of your life. That is why personalizing your proposal will make it more romantic and heartwarming.

You can add the personal touch by including things that are special for you and your partner. You can add different elements that represent your special moments or occasions.

You can even create a montage or video of your memories or ask your friends to hold different placards and lead your partner to the surprise spot where you’ll propose to her.

  • Doing everything on your own

Not many people are open about asking for help. They want to do everything on their own. If you do the same, you might want to reconsider.

You may indeed be able to do everything yourself, but still cannot take the risk of putting too much on your plate in your excitement.

It’s always smart to enlist the help of your closest friends and family members, as it allows you to share tasks, helping reduce stress. They will be happy to help.

  • No proper planning

Don’t just rely on your memory. It can be a very fickle and undependable thing. Whatever you plan, put it down in writing. This way, you can refer to your notes, ensuring you don’t miss anything.

Make a list of essentials like the engagement ring, location, wedding proposal photographer, etc. You might also want to think about what you are going to say while proposing to her.

  • Revealing your plans to too many people

The last thing you want on your proposal day is to let your partner know that you are going to propose to her. You will surely not tell her that, but one of your mutual friends may accidentally spill the beans.

The more people you tell about your plans, the greater the risk of inadvertently ruining the surprise. Do not tell everyone about your plan. It’s best to include just close friends and family members.

Planning a perfect wedding proposal doesn’t have to be tedious. The proper planning, resources, and a little help from friends can help you plan a spectacular wedding proposal.
