3 Lifestyle Choices That Make Women More Vulnerable to Breast Cancer

The number of women who suffer from breast cancer is increasing every year, and it has become a serious concern. Breast cancer is a type of cancer that affects more women in the US than any other, with the exception of skin cancer. Every year, 1 in 3 new cases of female cancer are caused by the condition.

In the United States, it is anticipated that 287,850 women will receive an invasive breast cancer diagnosis this year, while 51,400 women will receive an in situ (non-invasive) breast cancer diagnosis.

There are many factors that can increase a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer. These include age, family history, lifestyle choices, and genetics.

The main cause of breast cancer is lifestyle choices that lead to an increased risk of hormone-related cancers, such as obesity, lack of exercise, and alcohol consumption. In this article, we will try to explain three major causes of the growing breast cancer in women.

Smoking

Smoking is a leading cause of breast cancer, and the risk is even higher for women who smoke than for men. In fact, the causal relationship between smoking and the development of breast and colorectal cancer has been supported by research from ICEP researchers and partners. Higher lifetime smoking was positively correlated with both colorectal and breast cancer risk.

The most dangerous part of smoking is breathing in second-hand smoke, which can cause cancer in your lungs and heart. But even if you don’t smoke and aren’t around people who do, there are still harmful chemicals in cigarettes that can affect your health.

The chemicals in cigarettes are known as carcinogens, which means they can cause cancer. Carcinogens damage DNA and cause mutations that lead to abnormal cell growth and, eventually, cancer cells.

When you smoke, these carcinogens go directly into your lungs. They also enter your blood system and travel through your body until they reach any tissue or organ where they can do damage.

Cigarettes contain two types of carcinogens: polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and nitrosamines. PAHs are found in tobacco leaves before they’re harvested; these chemicals cause lung cancer when inhaled into the lungs of smokers or those who breathe second-hand smoke from other smokers nearby without wearing protective masks at all times.

There are a number of supplements that can help to keep your breasts healthy and reduce your risk of developing breast cancer. Supplements for breast health are available over the counter, but it’s always important to talk to your doctor before starting any new supplement regimen.

Alcohol

Alcohol can increase a woman’s risk of breast cancer. Excessive alcohol consumption has been linked to an increased risk of breast cancer in women. Alcohol can lead to an increased number of mammograms, which in turn increases the chances that breast cancer will be detected early enough to be treated successfully.

Those who drink three alcoholic beverages per week had a 15% increased risk of breast cancer than women who don’t drink at all. According to experts, every additional drink that women consistently consume daily increases their chance of breast cancer by 10%. This is because alcohol is metabolized into carcinogens in the liver and then travels to other parts of the body, including the breast tissue.

It’s important for women who drink regularly to get regular mammograms so that any signs of cancer can be caught early enough for them to be treated successfully.

Sedentary Lifestyle

A sedentary lifestyle isn’t just bad for your health. It can also make you more vulnerable to breast cancer. According to research, an increased risk of triple-negative breast cancer was linked to a higher degree of genetically predicted sitting time by a factor of 104%.

Women who are sedentary have lower levels of physical activity and lower metabolic rates, which means they burn fewer calories while at rest. In addition, being sedentary can cause you to gain weight, which also increases your risk of developing cancer because fat cells store estrogen.

What can you do? Start moving! Try taking the stairs or walking around the office instead of sitting at your desk all day long; if you drive somewhere that’s not within walking distance, park far away from your destination and walk the rest of the way; and take breaks throughout the day where you stand up instead of sitting down.

In conclusion, we want to emphasize that there is no single cause of breast cancer. However, lifestyle choices can make women more vulnerable.

We encourage you to make the right lifestyle choices, such as exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet. This way, you can prevent breast cancer and enjoy your life to the fullest.
