3 Easy & Creative Things You Can Do at Home

Having the whole family shut indoors can get taxing on everyone. Your work might bleed into the rest of your life and the kids might spend more time bored as they passively watch shows or use their phones.

How do you break up the monotony and get each family member out of this rut? You may find it useful to find inspiration for creative things you can do at home to ignite some much-needed energy.

Set Up an Indoor Picnic

Mix things up by setting up an indoor picnic. You can look up new recipes or make familiar dishes. Get your spouse and kids involved by having them help with preparation. This way, every step is an opportunity for bonding. For this reason, you should include some fun, relatively simple foods to maximize participation. For example, you could bake cookies for dessert that everyone gets to decorate themselves.

With the food taken care of, set up a blanket in the living room along with any other embellishments to create a genuine picnic. Then, sit back and enjoy.

Hold Group Craft Time

Completing crafts is another creative thing you can do at home. You can find a type of craft with high customization potential to make it accessible for everyone. Your family may have certain artistic inclinations already, which you can use to direct the craft. There are countless unique craft tutorials you can find online. Some will have you painting and drawing, while others involve cutting and gluing. The crafts don’t just need to be without purpose, either. Maybe you want to grow plants. In this case, you can have the family create small containers or vases that will hold them. Here’s a free guide on drawing for you to start your creative journey with your family.

Throw a Themed Party

Just because you are mostly confined to the house doesn’t mean that parties are out of the question. Pick an entertaining theme to plan a party around, such as a movie marathon or an out-of-season celebration of your family’s favorite holiday. The latter idea might be a bit unconventional, but that can make it all the more exciting. You can decorate the house appropriately and play games together, as well as eat some special food.

If someone in the family has a birthday coming up, you can even put together a surprise birthday party, along with friends and extended family. Others might not be able to come inside, but video calls can make up the distance. People around the country have also been driving by the fronts of their loved ones’ homes to wish happy birthday from their cars.
