If you’re a parent, are you fond of hugging your kid? And if yes, how often do you do that? Hugging actually brings many benefits both for you and your child. During this pleasant activity, your body releases oxytocin, commonly known as the “love hormone” since it plays a crucial role in social bonding, especially with your child.

So, next time you’d like to settle your daughter or son down, try this simple trick and see how they’ll react. Probably that’s the last thing they’ll expect from you. Thus, it’s worth giving it a play and hugging your kid more often.

Hugs make you healthy

The first reason why you should practice hugging is the fact that hugs have positive effects on our bodies. The more oxytocin your organism produces, the more immune to diseases you are, which in consequence can help you overcome some infections.

What’s more, hugs are responsible for your kid’s growth. With an increased level of oxytocin, hugging leads to releasing some growth hormones, such as insulin-like growth factor-I and nerve growth factor, stimulating your child’s proper physical development. So, instead of stuffing your kid with tons of vitamins, hug them.

Hugs make you happy

What do you usually do to make your kid happy? You can do many things, for example, build them a private playground in the backyard, like the one proposed by PDPlay, take them for chocolate ice cream, or just hug.

Whereas all these options are great, hugging boosts their feeling of happiness, self-esteem, and general well-being. They feel happier and more loved. Sometimes, if they get angry, a hug or two can significantly reduce their temper tantrum, making them more rested and relaxed.

Hugs strengthen your relation

Finally, if you’re thinking of your relationship with a child as the one that lacks something, it’s time to fix it with a regular habit of hugging every day. Hugs build mutual trust, affection, and secure attachment. Also, they reduce stress, generally improving the parent-child relationship.
