Going on a Trip With Your Dog? Make Sure To Have These 10 Items With You

Planning a road trip and intending to take your loyal pooch with you? There are some things you should keep in mind to ensure that your dog is happy, healthy, and safe so that you can both enjoy your trip together. here are 10 essential things to bring with you on your trip.

  1. Treats

Your dog isn’t always going to be as mentally stimulated by the sights and sounds of your strip, so you can keep them busy with Bully Sticks. They can start to associate treats with your trip so that there’s less antsy the next time they travel with you. And it will give them some much-needed stimulation while you’re driving.

  1. First Aid Kit For Dogs

Dogs have different medical needs than humans, so your own first aid kit might not cut it. A first aid kit for dogs should include a pair of tweezers, antiseptic wipes, gauze and bandages, saline wash, syringe, antibiotic ointment, antihistamine, and hydrogen peroxide.

  1. Tough Toys

During your breaks on your road trip, have some tough toys ready to toss for your dog so that they can get out some pent-up energy. These toys should be durable enough to toss around on the rough ground without breaking or falling apart.

  1. Seat Cover

A seat cover will provide some much-needed grip for your dog to sit and lie down during the journey without falling off the seat. This will also protect the upholstery of your car from your dog’s nails.

  1. Collapsible Bowl

A collapsible dog bowl is great for water or food when you’re on the go, and they fold up super small so that they can fit in your backpack. No more having to lug around those huge metal bowls that take up too much space.

  1. Poop Bags

In most states, it’s required by law that you pick up after your dogs if they take a poop. Be a responsible pet owner and bring a plethora of poop bags with you so that you can leave your environment clean after you leave.

  1. Wet Wipes

Dogs can get filthy on their journey, and instead of having to wash them off every time, some hygienic wet wipes designed for dogs will keep them looking clean and smelling nice.

  1. Doggy Seatbelt

Accidents can happen at any time during your trip, so it’s important that you keep your dog safe. If you’re wearing a seatbelt while driving, they should be too. It will keep them stabilized should you have a crash.

  1. Flea And Tick Spray

Traveling in areas filled with nature means that there are likely to be ticks and fleas. Be sure to speak to your vet about buying any spray, though, to ensure that you’re not jeopardizing your dog’s health.

  1. Dog Harness And Leash

Leash laws are present in most states, so it’s important that you have one on hand. Even if you do trust your dog, anything can happen in an unfamiliar environment and that can result in a lost dog… or worse.

A vacation with your dog should be stress-free and fun, so be sure to get all of their essentials taken care of and packed away so that you can enjoy the trip together.
