Once you find the perfect place to live in, you start thinking about ways to make that flat your home. They say the living room of a house says a lot about the people living in it.

While some people want their space to have a chic classy appeal, others want it to have a boho vibe. Some like adding expensive home decor and fancy lights to make their living room look luxurious, others prefer to play with curtain textures, colours and add hand-made arteries for a more personalized touch. Decorating your living room is a lot easier when you have a lot to spend. The real challenge is you make your living room look beautiful within a set amount. If you want to know about the ways you can pep up the look of your valued abode without burning a hole in your pocket, continue reading!

Improvise, Recycle, Reuse

Bring out the child in you and use the skills taught in your art class to create new decor items out of the things you already have in your house.

Search through your things like a little cat and pick out anything you can make something out of them. Old DVDs, cassettes, boxes, pots strings, a cloth material, wool yarns. It could be anything at all. Just let your creative juices flow. And if you need ideas and inspiration, you can always scroll through Pinterest, Youtube and other such sites.

Books Are A Man’s Best Friend

Whether you want a room solely dedicated to books in a 2BHK flat, a wall or a cosy corner in the living room for reading, you decide! Books have the power to make us travel to places that do not even exist; A perfect escape from reality. No amount of development in technology can ever take the place of hardbound books and anyone who loves reading knows it.  Using books as decor accessories will help you reach out for them more often. Plus they are a great conversation starter! Now you’ll know when a fellow reader walks in the door.

Experiment with Your Windows

From maintaining proper ventilation to making the room luminous and even making it appear bigger or smaller- Windows play a huge role in living a room. The right window treatment makes all the difference. Adding curtains with fun patterns and textures can instantly glam up the room.

Add Splash Greenery

Adding house plants to your living room can give it a fresh look. The right plants or a dried flower bouquet have the potential to brighten up your mood and even your room. Not only do they add vibrant colour to your room, but also makes clean indoor air by absorbing toxins, increasing humidity and producing oxygen.

Make an interesting entry, decorate the passage leading to your living room with artsy things. You may add a small storage cupboard or even a console table at the entry to make it appear more put together and welcoming.

Move Your Furniture Around

Sometimes you can change the entire look of the room by not adding something but by merely rearranging the furniture of your room. Every once in a while, try experimenting with the placements of furnishings. You never know when you’ll find a more convenient and comfortable position.

Wall of Frame

Make a wall of pictures and hang photographs of friends, family, the last vacation you went on or stick just posters of your favourite artists and quotes. This gives the room a personal vibe and your visitors will also have an idea of your personality and interests.

Light It Up!

Lights of any kind are fun. Dark rooms can instantly be a turn off as they give out a gloomy vibe and that’s not what your living room should feel like. There are various kinds of lightings ranging from high to low in price, available in marketing. You can invest in a big chandelier or on fairy string lights. Pick whatever suits your budget and preference.

Don’t Forget Candles

Scented candles are great for relieving stress and they smell divine. A lot of people like their homes having a definite fragrance. There is almost every possible variant of scented candles sold online as well as offline. You can make them yourself too! A little effort can make your living room smell heavenly.

Add Statement Furniture

Statement furniture doesn’t necessarily mean expensive. A piece of statement furniture can elevate the aesthetics of your room. This furniture can be anything- a chair, a coffee table or even a couch. Go out on a furniture hunt and pick out a unique piece from the cheapest store you find. You can always add a vase, frame, cushions or an interesting table cloth of your choice to pep up the look.

Add Texture

The best thing you can do to avoid investing too much on a product is playing with texture when picking out your living room decor. Get inspired by nature or even pop art if that’s what you like. Incorporate silk, velvet, jute, wood, marble or any other to maintain the interesting factor.

Clean your Furniture

Clean Furniture is an instant game-changer. Your room should have just enough furniture that you can clean. Remember, putting too many things in your living room will also increase its maintenance. This part of the house sees a lot of traffic as guests usually are seated there. Therefore, keep your furniture rid of dust. This shall also increase its durability.

Sort and Assort

Decorating your living room does not mean leaving things scattered. The reference pictures you see online are mostly clicked with keeping the aesthetic appeal in mind. When glamming up your room, do not forget about the practical aspect of things. Your room should be as comfortable as it is good-looking. If you aren’t comfortable in your living room then you probably won’t spend much time there.

Paint It Up!

Nothing makes a room appear prettier than fresh paint. If you’ve already done all the above-mentioned points then consider getting the colour of your room changed. Every colour makes us feel something. Maybe you’re just bored of how the room feels and you just want something different. Pick a colour that resonates best with your personality and go right ahead.
