Are Oranges Keto-Friendly?

by RAKI WRIGHT

picky-eaters-fruitThere are more people than ever that are interested in diets that can help them lose weight and make them healthier, and some of them are more legitimate than others. Some diets are based on body types, while other people might choose a diet for ethical reasons (veganism, for example).

The keto diet remains one of the most popular diets in the world today, and the global keto diet market is expected to be worth over $17 billion by 2026. For those who might be unaware, oranges might be a great source of Vitamin-C, but they aren’t exactly keto-friendly.

Why Oranges Don’t Work

There are plenty of fitness-focused individuals that love eating fruits before a workout, but this won’t work for those who are taking the keto diet seriously. There are some fruits out there that are keto-friendly, but oranges aren’t on that list. Specifically, a small orange might contain as much as 13 grams of carbs, which simply isn’t sustainable if you are on the keto diet.

If you are searching for a pre-workout that is keto-friendly, you may want to consider protein bars as a start. There are even “keto bars” that are on the market, that are designed for those on the keto diet. Another pre-workout that is keto-friendly could be yogurt or cheese. Both of these snacks are high in fat, which definitely works for the keto diet. Of course, it might not work for those who are lactose intolerant, since both are dairy products. If you’ve been loving oranges as a pre-workout snack because it’s a fruit, you can always opt for some berries. Berries are not exactly the most keto-friendly food, but a few of them before hitting the gym shouldn’t be an issue.

It should be noted that oranges can be extremely healthy, like many orange foods, even if they aren’t that keto-friendly.

You might already know that oranges are an important source of Vitamin C, but did you also know that oranges contain a significant amount of thiamine, which helps with nerve function? Oranges are also a huge source of Vitamin A, which is important for boosting your immune system. Finding ways to get these nutrients and vitamins can be more difficult on the Keto diet, but it sure is not impossible. Supplements like Keto Drox contains many of these vitamins, and also helps with weight loss.

Conclusion

It takes a significant amount of discipline to stay on a diet, and a keto diet might take a shift in mindset that you didn’t anticipate. It might feel strange to suddenly start eating different foods when you are used to certain foods, but you may find that the rewards are worth it once you start achieving your fitness goals.

If you are someone who is focused on your health, you might already enjoy fruits, and you might even consider them “nature’s candy.” Unfortunately, you might have to come to terms with the fact that your morning glass of orange juice will have to be replaced with something else.

Oranges are certainly healthy, but you are better off finding a pre-workout that is keto-friendly rather than grabbing one of the fruits on your way to the gym. Unfortunately, for those who absolutely love oranges, they might have to wait for a while.
