5 Signs Your Home Exterior Needs A Makeover

Your home plays a significant and central part in who you are. By making the largest financial commitment of your life, you purchase the house of your dreams, where you create and share special and precious moments with family and friends.

Every homeowner knows how important curb appeal is, so if your living space appears worn out, it might be time to make some changes. This article will highlight five major signs that will prompt you to renew your home’s exterior.

1. Frequent moisture and rot damage

Lately, it is common to see beautiful weatherboard homes become unattractive by decay and moisture damage these days. But they protect your home from harsh and unsafe environmental and weather conditions. If these sidings are worn out and not in perfect condition, your house will not be as safe and comfortable as it should be. This should be a wake-up call to replace these exterior fittings to make your home look nice, safe, and comfortable.

2. Leaking or dirty roofs and gutters

Roof damage may be difficult to detect without climbing to inspect for holes and loose fixtures. However, dirty and unpleasant-looking roofs can be seen from a distance and may lower the curb appeal of your property, making it look old and outdated. Inspecting your home’s roof regularly to detect and fix damages is important. Likewise, pressure washing your roofs and clogged gutters can remove pests, molds, and insects, allowing free water flow.

3. Mold or mildew growth on the external walls of your house

On the outside surfaces of your home, mold or mildew may develop and spread because they are living fungi. They may result in significant damages that need costly repairs if not handled. Mold and mildew produce musty, rotten smells and have an unappealing look. Molds can be fuzzy or slimy and come in various colors, including dark green, black and red. The walls of your home may need a repaint if fungus development is a problem, so feel free to consider this. However, mold and mildew will return if the source isn’t addressed. Therefore, inspect every part of your home for water leaks.

4. Drafty doors and windows

Energy bills and expenses will rise if your windows and doors are outdated and drafty. This causes currents of cold or warm air to seep into your house, causing your HVAC unit to work twice as hard to keep the temperature in your house stable. Components may wear out, or the complete machine may fail. If your monthly energy bills rise, your windows and doors need a makeover. Do well to invest in energy-efficient ones for the best results.

5. Cracks and splinters

Have you sighted an increase in the number of cracks, holes, gaps, and splinters on the outside of your property? It is necessary to realize that this damage is not only cosmetic, but it may influence the total worth of your property should you decide to sell. Such flaws compromise the structural stability of your home. Holes and fractures may allow moisture in, causing rot and water damage and creeping and crawling insects and rodents to nest in your walls. Fortunately, these tips can correct these issues, so feel free to leverage them.
