4 Important Trampoline Safety Tips For Kids

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure.

A young girl and boy hold hands while jumping on an outdoor trampoline that has a safety net around it.

A trampoline can provide hours of fun and active play for your children, plus it’s a fantastic way for them to burn off energy and enjoy the outdoors.

To keep the fun going, follow these four important trampoline safety tips for kids. With a few precautions, you can create a secure environment where your kids can jump with joy and you can have peace of mind.

One Jumper at a Time

It can be tempting to let multiple kids jump on the trampoline at once, but this often results in accidents. Instead, have only one child on the trampoline at a time to significantly reduce the risk of collisions and injuries.

Make this a firm rule from the very beginning. It ensures that your child has enough space to jump and land safely without bumping into anyone else.

Install a Safety Net

A safety net or enclosure is one of the most important accessories for your trampoline. It acts as a protective barrier, preventing children from accidentally falling off while they are jumping.

However, you need to check that the net is installed correctly and has no rips or tears. A secure enclosure gives your kids the freedom to jump high while staying safely on the trampoline mat.

Supervise Your Children

Even with safety measures in place, adult supervision is non-negotiable. Always keep an eye on your children while they are using the trampoline to make sure they are following the rules and jumping safely.

Your presence can help prevent risky behavior such as attempting complicated flips without proper training. Also, it means you’re right there to help if an accident does happen.

Place it on a Safe Surface

The location of your trampoline matters, so avoid placing it on asphalt or concrete. Instead, place it on a soft, level surface such as grass or a soft-play mat and ensure there is plenty of clear space around it.

Additionally, you should make sure the trampoline is a safe distance from trees, fences, and other outdoor structures. Maintaining and caring for your trampoline in this way helps it last longer and keeps it safe for your kids to use.

Keep the Fun Going

By following these four important trampoline tips for kids, you can make your trampoline a source of endless fun and excitement for your family. Remember, setting clear rules and creating a safe environment allows your kids to enjoy all the benefits of jumping without experiencing the risks.
