by RAKI WRIGHT

Christmas is an amazing occasion to get in touch with your family and friends and spend some quality time with them. This special season of joy, love, merriment and Christmas gifts brings a whole lot of happiness and excitement after a long year filled with ups and downs.

Regardless, while you involve everyone you love in the celebration of all the most wonderful things in life, make sure you don’t forget your canine friends.

As Christmas approaches, all pet owners like to start preparing for the celebration of the festival season with their pets. The problem, however, is that while Christmas is an exciting time for everyone, it can get a little stressful to keep your dog safe and happy during this period.

This can be because of the many aspects of Christmas celebrations that pose a danger to your dog’s health and safety. Therefore, to help you prevent your dog from getting into trouble and to keep them happy during Christmas we have got you this article.

Today, we will talk about some fun ways to make your dog happy and to keep them safe during this joyful occasion, so let’s get started.

1. Grooming Your Dog For Christmas

Before we get to the keeping your dog safe part, let’s talk about making them happy and ready for Christmas.

a. The Clipping and Grooming

This is the right time to do a little basic clipping, brushing and light grooming to get your dog festival ready. While we don’t suggest your completely remove your dog’s coat because they might need it for the winter, some light haircuts and nail cutting should be enough.

However, you need to make sure that you are using the best dog grooming kit to execute your grooming session. This kit can also be your Christmas gift to your canine buddy.

b. Bathing

Once the grooming process is complete, it’s time to give them a nice, refreshing bath to get them ready to rock the holiday season.

A relaxing bath session to remove all dirt, debris and irritants from their skin can be a really good way to keep your dog satisfied during Christmas.

c. The Dental Care

Dental care is another crucial part of your dog’s grooming routine. If it seems a little difficult for you to do it yourself, we suggest you get in touch with a professional groomer to help you with it.

2. The Christmas Tree

A Christmas tree right in the middle of your house is probably going to light up your pet’s brain with all kinds of naughty ideas.

Whether it is having a wee on the tree, jumping on the wires or anything else, it is your job to prevent your pet from getting into trouble. Let us tell you how.

a. The Lights

To prevent your dog from getting into trouble with the lights, we advise you to put them as high as your can on the tree and disconnect them when not in use.

However, another really good alternative would be to use battery-operated lights to prevent your dog from getting tangled up in wires or hurting themselves.

b. Decorations

When you put the decorations for your Christmas tree, we suggest you try to avoid any glass-based decorations along with tinsel and angel hair. This is because these items can be shattered or ingested or worse, both; harming your dog severely in the process.

c. The Presents

When it comes to your beautiful Christmas presents, the dogs will be extremely tempted to tear them up. That’s why it is strongly advisable that you hide your gifts from your pet until the actual Christmas day, and even then ensure that they are supervised at all times.

3. Miscellaneous Christmas Hazards

a. Christmas Treats

Try to keep your dog away from chocolate-based and other Christmas treats that may cause an allergic reaction. Keep these treats out of their reach and only let them have the Christmas treats that are specially ordered for them.

b. Flowers

While some festive flowers are incredibly beautiful, they can be toxic for your dog. To keep your dog safe, you must ensure that these flowers are out of their reach. Moreover, if you can do without them, then we suggest you don’t order them in the first place.

Conclusion

Now that you know all about keeping your dog safe and happy, it’s time you put these ideas into practice and celebrate a fun-filled Christmas with your pets.

Surprise your dog with some fun Christmas treats and a grooming session and keep them happy and healthy this holiday season.

We hope this article helped you find what you were looking for and that you have a Merry Christmas!!
